The professional discussion will last for 60 minutes and is conducted online via Zoom with an Independent Assessor from AAT.
The AAT Qualification
The AAT pathway is perfect for those working in roles where they need to create financial statements for limited companies, recommend accounting system strategies, or develop and present complex management accounting reports. Apprentices will work through 5 modules, each requiring a minimum of 70% in their live assessments.
Once the programme is complete and all mandatory and optional units are passed, apprentices will earn the AAT Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting.
The mandatory units, completed as part of the apprentice’s on-programme learning, include:
Drafting and Interpreting Financial Statements: This unit covers how to prepare and understand financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting standards.
Applied Management Accounting: Learners will develop skills in using management accounting techniques to support business decision-making, including budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis.
Internal Accounting Systems and Controls: This unit focuses on setting up and maintaining effective internal systems to ensure accurate financial reporting and safeguard against fraud.
In addition to the mandatory units, apprentices can choose two optional units from the following:
Business Tax: This unit teaches the basics of business tax, including VAT, corporation tax, and how to ensure a business meets its tax obligations.
Personal Tax: Learners will gain an understanding of personal tax, covering areas like income tax, tax returns, and compliance.
Audit and Assurance: This unit covers the process of auditing financial statements, ensuring that they’re accurate and compliant with regulations.
Cash and Financial Management: Focuses on managing cash flow, financial planning, and strategies to maintain a business’s financial health.
Credit and Debt Management: Learners will understand how to manage credit, reduce bad debt, and ensure smooth cash flow within the business.
The optional units will be chosen by the apprentice, employer, and their Coach. This way, the units selected will be the best fit for the apprentice’s role, making sure the learning is relevant and valuable for both the apprentice’s growth and the needs of the business.
Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours
Alongside their technical training, apprentices will receive dedicated one-to-one support from a Coach.
